State vs Natasha Narwal — 2020 Delhi riots conspiracy case

Activist Natasha Narwal is an accused in the 2020 Delhi riots conspiracy case, which is currently at the stage of framing charges as of 21 May 2026. On 17 October 2026, the Delhi High Court granted her permission to travel to the United Kingdom for an academic conference, ruling that serious UAPA charges do not constitute a blanket ban on the fundamental right to travel abroad. The court conditioned this permission on her returning to India and surrendering her passport upon return.

State vs Umar Khalid — February 2020 North-East Delhi Riots Case

Umar Khalid is accused of orchestrating a larger conspiracy behind the February 2020 north-east Delhi riots and has been in Tihar Jail since his arrest. After a trial court dismissed his fresh bail plea on 4 July 2026, he filed a third bail application in the Delhi High Court. As of 30 September 2026, the Delhi High Court scheduled a hearing to consider his and Sharjeel Imam's bail applications.

State vs. Sachin Waze and others — Antilia bomb scare and Mansukh Hiren death case

This case involves allegations of conspiracy and extortion against former police officer Sachin Waze regarding an explosive-laden vehicle found near the residence of Mukesh Ambani and the death of Mansukh Hiren. While a special NIA court granted bail to Sachin Waze on 28 September 2026, the Bombay High Court is currently reviewing an appeal against this decision. State vs Padamsinh Patil and others — Pawanraje Nimbalkar murder case

Goa Nightclub Fire Case — Deaths of 25 persons, bail cancellation

The NIA has filed a 7,500-page chargesheet against 13 individuals regarding the November 2025 Red Fort vehicle-borne improvised explosive device blast. A Delhi court took cognisance of the chargesheet on 29 August 2026, which alleges a conspiracy called Operation Heavenly Hind aimed at overthrowing the government using AI tools, encrypted messaging, and manuals linked to AQAP. The Delhi High Court denied default bail to accused Jasir Bilal Wani on 3 September 2026.

State vs accused — Vadnagar stock market fraud case

This case involves an investigation into the alleged unauthorized transfer of over Rs 5.49 crore through Hub Brokerage accounts. Following the filing of a chargesheet, the Gujarat High Court granted bail to accused Meet Raval on 9 September 2026, citing contradictory positions taken by the prosecution and the principle of the presumption of innocence.

State vs Bikram Panda and Sivashankar Dash — BJP leader Pitabas Panda murder case

Former BJD MLA Bikram Panda and former Berhampur Mayor Sivashankar Dash are accused of conspiring to murder BJP leader Pitabas Panda by engaging middlemen and contract killers. The Orissa High Court granted conditional bail to Bikram Panda on 31 August 2026, citing a statutory defect due to the non-supply of the grounds of arrest. The case is pending before a court.

State (CBI/ED) vs Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia & Others — Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 Corruption and Money Laundering Case

On 27 February 2026, the Rouse Avenue Special Court discharged all 23 accused, including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, from the CBI corruption case regarding the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. The CBI challenged this discharge in the Delhi High Court, where Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia filed opposition pleadings as reported on 13 August 2026. Separately, the Delhi High Court initiated criminal contempt proceedings against several AAP leaders in connection with these legal developments on 14 May 2026.

State v. Christian Michel James & Ors — AgustaWestland VVIP Helicopter Procurement Scam

The CBI and ED are prosecuting Christian Michel James, S.P. Tyagi, and others for alleged corruption in the 2013 AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter procurement scam. Although granted bail in the CBI case on 18 February 2025 and the ED case on 4 March 2025, Michel has not met the bail conditions and continues to be held in custody. As of 24 July 2026, the Supreme Court is considering his plea challenging his detention and provisions of the India-UAE extradition treaty.

Unknown vs Unknown — Criminal proceedings quashed under IPC sections 406, 420, 109, and 34

In Criminal Appeal No. 238 of 2019, the Supreme Court quashed an FIR, chargesheet, and all consequential criminal proceedings involving allegations under IPC sections 406, 420, 109, and 34. The court observed that offences of criminal breach of trust and cheating cannot co-exist based on the same allegations. As of 9 August 2026, the case is closed.

State vs L.K. Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and others — Babri Masjid demolition case

In September 2020, a special CBI court acquitted all 32 individuals, including L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, of criminal conspiracy charges in the 1992 destruction of the Babri Masjid due to lack of evidence. As reported on 1 August 2022, the Allahabad High Court is currently considering an appeal against this acquittal after requesting responses from the State and the CBI.
