Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption vs Tamil Nadu State Information Commission

The Madras High Court dismissed an appeal by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) challenging a directive from the Tamil Nadu State Information Commission to disclose certain corruption-related information. The court ruled that the DVAC is not exempt from sharing information pertaining to corruption and human rights violations under the Right to Information Act.

Coal Block Allocation Cases (Coalgate) — CBI/ED trials, Supreme Court supervision, and related appeals

The Coal Block Allocation cases involve allegations of irregularities in allocations between 1993 and 2011, which the Supreme Court declared arbitrary in 2014. While criminal proceedings against former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh were closed on 29 July 2026, trials continue before Special Courts in Delhi. As of 13 October 2026, a special CBI court took cognisance of charges in the Fatehpur East coal block allocation case, while the Delhi High Court has been permitted to hear pending appeals as of 30 July 2026.

State vs Police Officers — Karnataka Bitcoin Scam Investigation

A Special Investigation Team investigated four police officers, including a CCB DySP and three inspectors, for alleged involvement in a Bitcoin-related crime in Karnataka. The cases against these officers were closed as reported on 10 July 2026 after the Karnataka government denied prosecution sanction. Separately, hacker Srikrishna Ramesh was granted conditional bail by the Karnataka High Court on 8 October 2026 in a linked money laundering case.

State vs Lalu Prasad Yadav and others — IRCTC scam case

In the IRCTC hotel scam case involving former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav, and six others, a Delhi court ordered the framing of money laundering charges on 13 September 2026. As of 3 October 2026, the court has deferred the formal decision on the framing of these charges.

Siddaramaiah vs State of Karnataka — MUDA case

This case concerns allegations of land allotment irregularities by the Mysore Urban Development Authority involving Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Although a trial court accepted a closure report filed by the Lokayukta police, activist Snehamayi Krishna challenged that decision at the Karnataka High Court on 23 September 2026. The matter is pending further consideration by the High Court.

Zameer Ahmed Khan vs State of Karnataka — Corruption investigation challenge

Karnataka Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan is under investigation by the Lokayukta police regarding allegations of disproportionate assets worth approximately 25 crore rupees. Following the dismissal of his petition challenging the investigation by the Karnataka High Court on 18 November 2023, the Lokayukta police requested the Governor's sanction to prosecute him as reported on 11 July 2026. Representatives from the Aggrieved IMA Investors' Forum subsequently sought a CBI investigation against him as reported on 16 September 2026.

CBI vs Former ISRO officials — Antrix-Devas satellite deal corruption case

A Delhi Special CBI Court is examining alleged corruption involving former ISRO officials in the 2005 Antrix-Devas satellite deal. Although a trial court returned the CBI chargesheet for lack of territorial jurisdiction on 19 March 2026, the Delhi High Court stayed that order on 11 April 2026, keeping the case in Delhi. As reported on 10 September 2026, a former Department of Space officer defended the deal's secrecy by citing US technology sanctions.

State of Karnataka v Prathik Parasrampuria — Election black money case

In a judgment delivered on 18 August 2026, the Supreme Court established nationwide guidelines to curb the influence of black money in elections, following proceedings regarding the 2014 Bellary Lok Sabha bye-election. The Court mandated that the withdrawal of election-related cases requires High Court approval, imposed a one-year deadline for investigations, and directed the Election Commission of India and governments to submit compliance reports by 18 November 2026.

State vs Preetham Gowda — disproportionate assets and Lokayukta probe case

The Special Court in Bengaluru has ordered a Superintendent of Police probe into allegations that former legislator Preetham Gowda acquired assets beyond his known sources of income. Following this, the High Court directed the Superintendent of Police to file a First Information Report as of 21 August 2026. The matter is currently under investigation as reported on 25 August 2026.

State vs A. Raja and 5 others — Disproportionate assets case

A. Raja and five others are facing charges in a disproportionate assets case investigated by the CBI. The CBI's Chennai unit filed a chargesheet in 2022, and the case proceeded before a special court. The Madras High Court dismissed Raja's plea challenging the case.

P M Senguttuvan's sons and associates vs State — Disproportionate assets case

The Madras High Court upheld a 3-year jail sentence for four individuals, including the sons of former DMK minister P M Senguttuvan, in a disproportionate assets case involving Rs 81.42 lakh.

State of Andhra Pradesh vs N. Chandrababu Naidu

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu faced corruption allegations involving the misappropriation of funds in a skill development project. The Supreme Court of India dismissed a challenge to the Andhra Pradesh High Court's decision to quash the 2021 criminal FIR against him on 14 August 2026. The Supreme Court observed that the case was initiated due to political malice, officially closing the matter.

State (CBI/ED) vs Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia & Others — Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 Corruption and Money Laundering Case

On 27 February 2026, the Rouse Avenue Special Court discharged all 23 accused, including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, from the CBI corruption case regarding the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. The CBI challenged this discharge in the Delhi High Court, where Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia filed opposition pleadings as reported on 13 August 2026. Separately, the Delhi High Court initiated criminal contempt proceedings against several AAP leaders in connection with these legal developments on 14 May 2026.

State vs Nainar Nagenthran, Kesava Vinayagam and others — Cash for votes case

Thirteen accused, including Nainar Nagenthran and Kesava Vinayagam, were charged in connection with alleged cash-for-votes scheme. A chargesheet was filed by CB-CID (Crime Branch-CID) before a metropolitan court in Chennai. The High Court stayed the framing of charges against the BJP leaders.

Bofors scandal investigation

The long-standing Bofors scandal, involving allegations of corruption in arms procurement, concluded when the Supreme Court dismissed the final appeal on 7 August 2026. This judgment upheld the 2005 Delhi High Court decision to quash criminal proceedings against the Hinduja brothers and AB Bofors, effectively closing the legal matter.

CBI vs Dharamvir Singh and Parul Garg

The CBI arrested Customs Superintendent Dharamvir Singh and Additional Commissioner Parul Garg in connection with an alleged bribery case in Punjab, as reported on 9 September 2021. As of 27 July 2026, the case is pending in the High Court where the accused are facing ongoing prosecution.

State v. Christian Michel James & Ors — AgustaWestland VVIP Helicopter Procurement Scam

The CBI and ED are prosecuting Christian Michel James, S.P. Tyagi, and others for alleged corruption in the 2013 AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter procurement scam. Although granted bail in the CBI case on 18 February 2025 and the ED case on 4 March 2025, Michel has not met the bail conditions and continues to be held in custody. As of 24 July 2026, the Supreme Court is considering his plea challenging his detention and provisions of the India-UAE extradition treaty.

CBI vs Forest Officials — Corruption cases against former Jim Corbett Director and senior forest officers

The Uttarakhand High Court transferred corruption cases against the former Director of Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve and senior forest officers to a Special CBI Court for trial.

Court-ordered investigation into Madhabi Puri Buch and others

A special PMLA court in Mumbai had ordered the Anti-Corruption Bureau to register an FIR against former SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, the BSE Chairman, and other officials regarding fraud allegations. Following an initial stay on the lower court's order, the Bombay High Court quashed the directive on 8 July 2026, citing the absence of a cognisable offence.

State vs IAS Officer Patel — Money Laundering and Bribery Case

A suspended 2015-batch IAS officer who served as Surendranagar Collector is accused of heading an organised bribery network involving money laundering. The Gujarat High Court denied bail to the officer on 29 June 2026, observing that the accused failed to meet the conditions for release under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The case remains under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate as of 01 July 2026.
