State vs Police Officers — Karnataka Bitcoin Scam Investigation

An IPS officer was arrested in connection with a fake drug bribery scheme involving Rs 3 crore. The officer allegedly sought money to 'fix' a CBI case related to a counterfeit medicine racket. Several politicians were also found to be involved in the investigation.

A CBI investigation concerns an alleged Rs 3 crore bribery deal to influence a CBI probe. Delhi Police inspector Pradeep Kumar Singh and co-accused Rajkumar were arrested on June 8, 2026. Singh allegedly retained Rs 25 lakh in his office, with involvement of a DGCA official under examination.

A Punjab Station House Officer (SHO), Gurinderjit Singh, faces extradition to the US following FBI charges linking him to a $400,000 gang-related extortion plot. The case is part of Operation Hard Ball, the international law enforcement crackdown on India-based transnational organised crime groups.

The CBI arrested Haryana IAS officer Pradeep Kumar in connection with an alleged Rs 504 crore fraud at IDFC First Bank's Chandigarh branch. The investigation revealed that public funds belonging to eight Haryana government departments were allegedly siphoned off through forged or non-existent fixed deposits and fraudulent transactions routed to shell entities. Former bank officers were also accused of facilitating the opening of accounts and fraudulent transactions.

A 26-year-old man, Sai Krishna, allegedly died in police custody at Krishna Lanka Police Station in Vijayawada, NTR district, between May 9 and early hours of the next day. The NHRC sought reports from the Andhra Pradesh DGP and Chief Secretary regarding illegal detention, torture, alleged death, and body disposal. An FIR was registered against former CI Nagaraju.

A man died in January 2024 following police custody. An FIR was registered on July 30, 2026 to probe the death. The Supreme Court criticised the Chhattisgarh Director General of Police, describing the handling as 'totally incompetent' and warning of potential contempt proceedings.
