Following a Calcutta High Court rejection of a stay request on 07 May 2026, an arbitration award was granted to Tata Motors. As reported on 05 August 2026, the West Bengal government has since initiated talks with the Tata Group to reach an out-of-court settlement regarding this award.

On 9 May 2017, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to six months in prison. This conviction and the sentence were formally affirmed in a final judgment as reported on 23 August 2017.
