Investigation into the death of Akash in police custody

Akash Delison, a 26-year-old Dalit man, died after alleged custodial torture by police in Sivaganga district, Tamil Nadu. As of 10 September 2026, the CB-CID has formally named six police officers as accused in the case, charging them with offenses including murder and assault. Previously, the Madras High Court directed authorities to perform the victim's last rites on 16 June 2026 after the family refused to claim the body for over three months.

State vs Nainar Nagenthran, Kesava Vinayagam and others — Cash for votes case

Thirteen accused, including Nainar Nagenthran and Kesava Vinayagam, were charged in connection with alleged cash-for-votes scheme. A chargesheet was filed by CB-CID (Crime Branch-CID) before a metropolitan court in Chennai. The High Court stayed the framing of charges against the BJP leaders.

State of Tamil Nadu vs Unnamed Accused — Nagercoil blackmailing and extortion case

T. Kasi alias Suji was arrested in Nagercoil for filming intimate videos of over 100 women to blackmail and extort money from them. A Nagercoil trial court sentenced him to life imprisonment, and on 14 July 2026, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court upheld the conviction and the life sentence.

State vs Sudhakar — Anna Nagar child assault case

Former AIADMK functionary Sudhakar and a woman police inspector were arrested in January 2025 for allegedly threatening the parents of a minor sexual assault survivor and aiding the primary accused in Anna Nagar, Chennai. Following a Madras High Court investigation into the unauthorized circulation of the survivor's statement and petitions to quash proceedings, the court directed a day-to-day trial in the case as reported on 25 March 2026.

State vs S Yuvaraj and others — Gokulraj murder case

A special court convicted ten individuals, including prime accused S. Yuvaraj, for the murder of a Dalit youth named Gokulraj. On 2 June 2023, the Madras High Court upheld the life imprisonment sentences for eight of the convicts. As reported on 17 March 2026, S. Yuvaraj has filed a petition requesting the reopening of the investigation into the death of DSP Vishnupriya.
