CBI investigation into corruption allegations against OSD to Punjab CM

The CBI is investigating corruption and 'cash-for-transfers' allegations against Rajbir Singh Ghuman, the OSD to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, while the Enforcement Directorate conducts a parallel money laundering probe. As of 23 October 2026, the Supreme Court has refused to stay the investigation but ordered no coercive action against the accused. Ghuman has appeared before the CBI for three rounds of questioning as of 23 October 2026.

CBI investigation into GainBitcoin scam

The CBI is conducting a nationwide investigation into the alleged Rs 1.3 lakh crore GainBitcoin cryptocurrency scam involving money laundering. Following nationwide searches and the seizure of digital assets worth INR 23.94 crores reported on 26 February 2025, the CBI arrested co-founder and CTO Ayush Varshney on 11 March 2026. As of 19 July 2026, the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Union Government regarding a petition filed by investors seeking justice in the case.

Enforcement Directorate vs. TASMAC

The Enforcement Directorate is investigating alleged financial irregularities and money laundering within the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation. While the Supreme Court dismissed a plea from businessman PR Rajesh Kumar challenging the legality of the searches on 19 June 2026, the state government decided to withdraw its own appeal against the agency's actions as reported on 27 June 2026.
