The investigation was transferred to the Women Safety Wing, and the police were granted two-day custody of the accused for interrogation as reported on 6 August 2026. A Sessions Court in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh, sentenced seven cow vigilantes to life imprisonment on 13 June 2026 for a 2022 mob lynching.
