Bengaluru Doctor — Assault case involving illegal immigrants

The Karnataka High Court quashed the criminal case against a Bengaluru doctor on 16 October 2026, following his arrest over a dispute involving allegations of illegal immigration. Subsequently, on 23 October 2026, the court directed the state government to operationalise district-level committees for the identification of illegal immigrants in accordance with Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines within three months.

State vs Kodagu Homestay Owner — Illegal Arrest and Rape FIR Case

The Karnataka High Court quashed all criminal charges against a Kodagu homestay owner on 26 August 2026, ruling that he had no legal duty to report the crime involving a U.S. tourist. Previously, the High Court ordered the State to pay him ₹5 lakh for an illegal arrest, a compensation amount upheld by the Supreme Court on 24 September 2026 after the State's appeal was dismissed.

State vs Accused person — rape case, Karnataka

In Karnataka, an accused faces a rape trial following a complaint filed on 1 May 2024. The Karnataka High Court has repeatedly refused to quash the proceedings, most recently ruling on 21 August 2026 that claims of consensual sexual acts must be tested through a full-fledged trial. Prior to this, the High Court denied the accused's bail plea as reported on 2 June 2026.
