State vs Kodagu Homestay Owner — Illegal Arrest and Rape FIR Case

Former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal was accused of rape, sexual harassment, wrongful confinement and assault of a woman journalist at a Goa resort in November 2013. After initial acquittal in 2021, the Bombay High Court's Goa bench convicted him in 2026 following final arguments on the chargesheet filed by Goa Police in February 2014.

A case involving the placement of a vibrating machine on a victim's vaginal opening was heard by the Kerala High Court. The court held that such conduct constitutes penetrative sexual assault equivalent to rape under the POCSO Act.

An FIR was registered on 28 July 2026 in Ghaziabad under multiple BNS sections including rape, assault on a woman with intent to outrage modesty, sexual harassment, and criminal intimidation. The Allahabad High Court questioned why an earlier complaint dated 7 July 2026 did not result in FIR registration.
