Extramarital Affair Alone Not Abetment to Suicide: Supreme Court
Supreme Court quashes Section 306 IPC case against man accused of having an illicit relationship with deceased's wife.
Explanation in simple terms
The Supreme Court has ruled that having an extramarital affair is not enough on its own to charge someone with abetting a suicide. For a person to be held legally responsible for someone else's suicide, there must be clear evidence that they actively encouraged or pushed the person to take their own life. Simply being unfaithful in a relationship does not meet this legal standard, even if it causes significant emotional distress to a partner.
