Former judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh are accused by the CBI of abetment to suicide in the death of Twisha Sharma, who was found dead in her Bhopal home in May 2026. State vs Varun Kumar and Akhilesh Verma — Murder of Rakesh Agrawal

Retired IAS officer Rakesh Agrawal was found murdered with his throat slit at his residence in the Suraj Nagar area of Bhopal on 01 October 2026. A five-member Special Investigation Team assumed control of the investigation on 23 October 2026, while the primary suspect, Varun Kumar, has been absconding since 01 October 2026. Healthcare agency owner Akhilesh Verma was booked for allegedly failing to conduct mandatory police verification for the caretaker, as reported on 15 October 2026.

State vs. alleged perpetrators — Dharmasthala rape and murder cases

The Supreme Court ordered a de novo investigation on 24 September 2026 into the 2012 rape and murder of 17-year-old Soujanya and related allegations of mass burials in Dharmasthala, Karnataka. A new Special Investigation Team (SIT) has since unearthed seven sets of human remains at Banglegudde as of 24 October 2026. Following this discovery, the Karnataka State Women’s Commission requested an expansion of the SIT's mandate to address discrepancies in unnatural death reports as of 26 October 2026.
