Kodagu Homestay Owner vs. State of Karnataka — Rape Case (Chargesheet Quashed)

Former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Singh is accused of sexual harassment. Delhi Police registered an FIR and filed a chargesheet against him under IPC sections 354, 354A, 354D, and 506. The Delhi court has reserved its verdict, with judgment scheduled for August 3, 2026.

The Supreme Court quashed an SC/ST Act offence against a school manager accused of assaulting and hurling caste-based abuses. The Court held that caste abuse in an enclosed space and without a specific caste-based utterance in public view does not constitute an offence under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

A case involving the placement of a vibrating machine on a victim's vaginal opening was heard by the Kerala High Court. The court held that such conduct constitutes penetrative sexual assault equivalent to rape under the POCSO Act.

Former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal was accused of rape, sexual harassment, wrongful confinement and assault of a woman journalist at a Goa resort in November 2013. After initial acquittal in 2021, the Bombay High Court's Goa bench convicted him in 2026 following final arguments on the chargesheet filed by Goa Police in February 2014.
