State vs Sonam Wangchuk — National Security Act Detention (Now Revoked)
Sonam Wangchuk, a Ladakh-based climate activist and innovator, was detained under the National Security Act (NSA) on 26 September 2025 following protests in Leh demanding statehood and Sixth Schedule status for Ladakh. His detention was contested through a habeas corpus petition filed by his wife in the Supreme Court. The Central Government revoked his detention on 14 March 2026 after he had undergone nearly half of the maximum detention period permitted under the NSA.
