Jagtar Singh Hawara vs. State of Punjab and others

State vs Bhullar — Graft Case

Suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar and co-accused Krishanu Sharda are facing trial in a CBI court for alleged corruption. Following the dismissal of his challenge to the prosecution sanction on 07 June 2026, the court commenced the examination of witnesses, during which the complainant identified the accused and relevant audio evidence in late September 2026. The Supreme Court deferred Bhullar's bail plea on 15 September 2026 pending the testimony of key witnesses.

State vs Sukhbir Singh Badal — criminal defamation case over remarks linking AKJ to terror outfit

Sukhbir Singh Badal, former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, faces a criminal defamation complaint for remarks allegedly linking the Akhand Kirtani Jatha to the banned terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International. On 4 September 2026, the Supreme Court of India dismissed his plea to quash the 2017 case. The matter is pending before the trial court as of 4 September 2026.
