Plea against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar
Opposition leaders filed a petition in the Supreme Court alleging that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar made unilateral decisions during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The Election Commission of India submitted a counter affidavit on 26 October 2026 rejecting the claims as baseless and asserting that all orders were unanimous. On 27 October 2026, the Supreme Court granted the Election Commission 10 additional days to file a formal response to the petition.
