On 2 March 2023, an SC/ST court acquitted three accused and convicted one individual of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, who was later granted bail on 13 October 2026. Separately, on 27 August 2026, the Allahabad High Court ordered the state government to relocate and provide rehabilitation for the victim's family.

Former MLA Amarpal Sharma and two other accused were acquitted by a Ghaziabad MP-MLA court in the murder case of Gajendra alias Gajji Bhati. The court granted the acquittal due to a lack of evidence presented by the prosecution regarding the incident, which occurred nine years prior.

Death of a 12-year-old girl in Gwalipurwa village — Sitapur

A 12-year-old girl was found dead in a sugarcane field in Gwalipurwa village, located within the Machhrehta police station area of Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. Family members have alleged that the girl was murdered by strangulation.

Omprakash was murdered in Kushinagar, allegedly due to a property dispute. His first wife and sister-in-law have been arrested and sent to jail in connection with the crime.

State vs Lalla — Hardoi wife murder case

The accused, Lalla, allegedly killed his 27-year-old wife with an axe at their residence in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, following a dispute over infidelity. The accused reportedly surrendered to the police after the incident.

State vs. Aadhar (Azamgarh quadruple murder case)

In the Azamgarh quadruple murder case, the accused, identified as Aadhar, allegedly murdered his wife, son, and two priests in Shambhupur village. Following a seven-hour standoff with police, the accused was killed in an encounter on 23 September 2026.

State vs Surendra Koli — Nithari serial killings case

Following his acquittal, Koli was found dead in Haridwar, with authorities investigating the death as a suicide, though family members of victims have alleged foul play.

State vs Balraj — Multiple homicides and sexual assault case

A Ghaziabad man is accused of a series of crimes spanning two decades, including a 2006 homicide, a 2017 double murder, and a 2026 rape-murder case. A 70-year-old woman and a 9-year-old boy were sexually assaulted and killed approximately 8 years prior to reporting. Balraj obtained bail in 2025 and was subsequently employed as a caretaker.

State vs Ajayraj and Sandeep — Ghaziabad trader murder case

Ajayraj was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Ghaziabad trader 17 years ago. A chargesheet was filed against Ajayraj and Sandeep on August 23, 2010, after a third accused, Jogendra, remained absconding. Charges were framed under IPC sections and Section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST Act.

Krishna Pal and Others vs. State — Dacoity and murder conviction set aside

The Allahabad High Court set aside the conviction under Section 396 IPC (dacoity with murder) against Krishna Pal and others. The Court found that the prosecution failed to establish that dacoity was the primary intention and that murder was committed in the course of dacoity.

State vs. Kanwariyas — Road-rage death of Mohd Azim, Hapur

Mohd Azim, a 24-year-old pickup driver, died after an alleged assault by kanwariyas following a road accident on NH-9 in Hapur. Police added murder charges under BNS section 103(1) to the FIR and arrested six individuals, with the final two suspects taken into custody on 13 August 2026. In re: Rape and murder of a minor in Nandgram, Ghaziabad

The Supreme Court is overseeing the investigation into the 2026 rape and murder of a four-year-old girl in Ghaziabad following concerns over the police probe and threats to the victim's family. As reported on 30 July 2026, the court-appointed Special Investigation Team recommended action against private hospitals that denied the victim emergency care. On 7 August 2026, the Court directed compensation for the victim's family and announced plans to establish guidelines for hospital and law enforcement emergency responses.
