State vs Surendra Kumar Bansal — Corruption case

The Central Bureau of Investigation has formally registered two FIRs to take over corruption investigations from the Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch concerning alleged fraud in Public Works Department contracts involving the late Surendra Kumar Bansal. These cases had been under investigation by the Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch for approximately nine years without a chargesheet as reported on 28 April 2026.

Abhishek Jha vs State of Jharkhand — Anticipatory bail plea

Abhishek Jha, the husband of a Jharkhand IAS officer, sought anticipatory bail in a money laundering and corruption case following the rejection of his plea by the High Court. The Supreme Court dismissed his anticipatory bail application on 8 August 2023, and subsequently dismissed a further application filed by Jha and his father on 3 February 2026.

Prakash Industries Limited v. Directorate of Enforcement & CBI — Coal Block Allocation and Money Laundering

Prakash Industries Limited (PIL) is accused of obtaining Chotia and Fatehpur coal block allocations through fraud and misrepresentation in applications. The case involves allegations of submitting false documents to the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction, generating proceeds of crime through coal extraction and sale, and money laundering via share price manipulation and property acquisition. The Supreme Court cancelled the allocations in 2014. PIL remains accused (not convicted) across CBI/corruption cases and ED/PMLA enforcement proceedings, with ongoing trials and appellate litigation in the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court.

State vs Employees of L&T, Cognizant and government officials — Bribery case

The Bombay High Court has lifted an interim stay on a corruption investigation involving employees of Larsen & Toubro Limited, Cognizant, and various government officials. The probe concerns allegations of bribery and corruption.

CBI vs National Medical Commission officials and others — Corruption scam

The Central Bureau of Investigation is probing an alleged corruption syndicate involving the National Medical Commission, which reportedly includes ghost faculty and hawala transactions. Two individuals from Telangana have been named in connection with the ongoing investigation.

State of Chhattisgarh vs Manish Kunjam

The Chhattisgarh Anti-Corruption Bureau is investigating former CPI MLA Manish Kunjam regarding allegations of embezzling funds intended for tendu leaf collector bonuses for 2021 and 2022. Following raids on his residence, the Anti-Corruption Bureau named Kunjam as a suspect in the investigation as reported on 14 April 2025.

CBI investigation into corruption ring at RML Hospital

The Central Bureau of Investigation uncovered a corruption racket involving doctors, hospital staff, and equipment suppliers at Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, leading to the arrest of 11 individuals as reported on 9 May 2024. The agency filed a charge sheet against a cardiologist and several suppliers for bribery on 10 July 2024, followed by a fresh FIR registered against an additional hospital employee on 27 March 2025.

The Kerala High Court dismissed a writ petition filed by an accused seeking to quash summons and proceedings pending before a trial court. The court affirmed the CBI's jurisdiction to proceed even if Prevention of Corruption Act offences are not initially established.

State vs Aman Singh — Disproportionate assets case

A trial court in Raipur accepted a closure report filed by the Economic Offences Wing of the Anti-Corruption Bureau in a disproportionate assets case against Aman Singh, a former aide to Raman Singh. The court found no evidence of disproportionate assets.

CBI vs Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd and others

The Central Bureau of Investigation is investigating Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd alongside officials from NMDC and MECON regarding alleged corruption in a 315 crore rupee project for the National Mineral Development Corporation's Jagdalpur plant. As of 14 April 2024, the matter is under investigation following the registration of an FIR against the firm and 11 others.

State vs Police Officers — Kutch extortion case

Authorities booked 19 individuals, including five senior police officers, in a case involving the kidnapping and extortion of a firm staffer in Kutch, as reported on 17 February 2024. A local court previously declared four police officers absconders on 6 December 2023, and another accused surrendered before a Kutch court on 28 December 2023. The matter is under investigation.

CBI vs Moyukh Bhaduri — Corruption case against Hindustan Steelworks Construction Ltd

The Central Bureau of Investigation has charged former Hindustan Steelworks Construction Limited Chairman and Managing Director Moyukh Bhaduri and eight others in a corruption and bribery case linked to a National Sports University construction project. Following the receipt of prosecution sanction, the CBI filed a charge sheet against the accused. The case remains before the court, which issued an order regarding the matter on 14 February 2024.

CBI vs Jayanthi Natarajan

The Central Bureau of Investigation registered a corruption case against former Union Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan for allegedly granting illegal mining clearance for forest land in 2012. Following raids on her residence, the agency filed a closure report in the case as reported on 01 December 2023.

State vs Enforcement Directorate Officers — Jaipur bribery case

In November 2023, the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested Enforcement Officer Naval Kishore Meena and an associate in Jaipur for allegedly demanding and accepting a 15 lakh rupee bribe. As reported on 5 November 2023, the investigation expanded to include two additional members of the Enforcement Directorate staff.

State vs Police Officers and others — Bajali extortion case

The Assam Police arrested ten individuals, including an IPS officer, in connection with an alleged extortion case in the Bajali district. The investigation involves allegations of corruption and extortion by police personnel.

CBI vs Rashmi Shukla — Maharashtra phone tapping case

The Central Bureau of Investigation investigated allegations of corruption involving the unauthorized phone tapping of political leaders by IPS officer Rashmi Shukla. On 8 September 2023, the Bombay High Court quashed two FIRs filed against her regarding these allegations.

CBI vs Rolls Royce PLC and others — Hawk AJT procurement corruption case

The CBI is investigating Rolls Royce PLC, former director Tim Jones, and businessmen Sudhir and Bhanu Choudhrie for alleged corruption and conspiracy in the procurement of Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer aircraft. The probe, which originated from a 2017 UK court judgment, involves allegations of bribery and unauthorized commissions to facilitate the deal. As reported on 10 July 2023, the CBI formally named the Choudhrie family in the FIR alongside Rolls Royce and its former executive.

CBI inquiry into Indian Red Cross Society irregularities

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare initiated a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into allegations of corruption and financial irregularities across five state units of the Indian Red Cross Society. These allegations include the unauthorized registration of a trust by a former chairman in Karnataka to solicit donations. As reported on 14 March 2023, the investigation is ongoing.

CBI vs Vinay Pathak

The Central Bureau of Investigation is investigating Prof. Vinay Pathak, the Vice-Chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, for alleged extortion, cheating, bribery, and corruption during his tenures at both CSJMU and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University. As reported on 23 January 2023, Prof. Pathak resumed his duties following an 85-day leave while the investigation into these allegations continues.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR against former Union Finance Secretary Arvind Mayaram for alleged corruption. The agency conducted searches at his premises in connection with the investigation.
