State vs Accused — Abetment of suicide case in Himachal Pradesh

The Himachal Pradesh High Court is presiding over an abetment of suicide case where the court previously noted that a suicide note absolving the accused weakens the prima facie case. Following this, the High Court granted bail to a co-accused on 21 September 2026, ruling that a disclosure statement made by a co-accused while in custody cannot serve as the sole justification for continued detention.

State vs Married Man — Abetment to nursing student's suicide case

The Karnataka High Court declined to quash criminal proceedings against a married man accused of abetting a 22-year-old nursing student's suicide. As reported on 22 August 2026, the court determined that the accused's alleged persistent stalking, threats to distribute photos, and interference with the victim's marriage prospects established a prima facie case for trial.

State of Maharashtra vs Arnab Goswami — Abetment to Suicide

Republic TV founder Arnab Goswami was arrested in connection with a 2018 abetment to suicide case involving the death of an architect and his mother. Following his arrest in November 2020, the Supreme Court of India granted him interim bail on 27 November 2020. As reported on 15 August 2026, the Bombay High Court has since questioned the state government's authority to reopen this case after a magistrate had previously accepted a police closure report.

State vs Sheezan Khan — Death of Tunisha Sharma

Actor Sheezan Khan was arrested following the death of his co-star Tunisha Sharma. After the Vasai Court remanded him to judicial custody on 31 December 2022, he was granted bail by the Thane Court on 6 March 2023. The Bombay High Court issued an order regarding the matter on 10 November 2023.
