The Uttarakhand High Court quashed a rape case against a man accused of establishing a physical relationship on a false promise of marriage via Tinder. The court held that a consensual relationship that subsequently fails to culminate in marriage does not constitute rape under Section 376 IPC and does not disclose an actionable offence of sexual intercourse induced by false promise of marriage.
