State vs two police constables — Tiruvannamalai rape case

In September 2025, two police constables were accused of raping a woman during a night patrol near Tiruvannamalai, leading to their dismissal from service on 02 October 2025. State vs Vasanthi

Former Inspector of Police Vasanthi was initially suspended and arrested on extortion charges, followed by a second arrest for allegedly tampering with witnesses. On 23 September 2024, the Madras High Court quashed the detention order issued against her on 29 April 2024 due to procedural lapses and delays, ordering her release unless required for other cases.
