State of Assam vs Amritprava Mahanta — Zubeen Garg death case

Band member Amritprava Mahanta and suspended DSP Sandipon Garg are accused of culpable homicide in the death of singer Zubeen Garg. Mahanta was released from Haflong sub-jail on 13 October 2026, and Garg was released from Baksa district jail on 19 October 2026, following bail granted by the Gauhati High Court on 16 October 2026. The Assam government and private counsel have initiated plans to challenge these bail orders in the Supreme Court.
