In re: Regulation of motorboats in Dal Lake

On 14 October 2026, the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh imposed an interim ban on fuel-powered motorboats, motorised shikaras, and jet skis in Dal Lake to address pollution. The court, which granted exemptions for emergency, law and order, and disaster management vessels, directed authorities on 15 October 2026 to promote solar-powered alternatives and draft a comprehensive operational policy.
