On 7 July 2026, the Chhattisgarh High Court acquitted five men in an 833-kilogram ganja seizure case, setting aside the 15-year prison sentences previously imposed by a Special NDPS Court. On 8 July 2026, the High Court further directed the DGP-DRI to conduct an accountability inquiry into the escape of the main accused from DRI custody during the investigation, citing serious procedural lapses.
