Delay in chargesheet filing in Thane case

The Bombay High Court initiated action against police officials in Thane for a nine-year delay in filing a chargesheet for a 2017 case. Thane police filed the chargesheet against Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre and four others on 17 September 2026. Following an 07 August 2026 bail grant, the Supreme Court stayed the bail for the accused on 17 September 2026.

State vs. Minor Driver — Pune Porsche Accident Case

In May 2024, a minor allegedly under the influence of alcohol drove a Porsche into a motorcycle in Pune, killing two engineers. As of 3 September 2026, the case has not reached trial despite a 900-page chargesheet, and victims' parents are advocating for juvenile law reforms. The minor's father, Vishal Agarwal, was granted bail by the Supreme Court on 10 March 2026 in the blood sample tampering case.
