State vs. Somasekhar — Prisons DIG misconduct case

An investigation by the CB-CID has alleged that a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons named Somasekhar engaged in official misconduct. The allegations include the exploitation of a convict's wife in exchange for parole, the improper verification of a purported Supreme Court order for a convict's release, and the illegal deployment of convict prisoners for domestic work at his official residence.

Enforcement Directorate vs. TASMAC

The Enforcement Directorate is investigating alleged financial irregularities and money laundering within the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation. While the Supreme Court dismissed a plea from businessman PR Rajesh Kumar challenging the legality of the searches on 19 June 2026, the state government decided to withdraw its own appeal against the agency's actions as reported on 27 June 2026.
