Allegations of corruption in Para Asian Games selection

Para-athletes have alleged that the Paralympic Committee of India demanded a 20% commission on government cash awards during the selection process for the 2026 Para Asian Games. Following the removal of a para-shooting coach by the Sports Ministry on 13 October 2026, the Delhi High Court ruled on 15 October 2026 that it cannot interfere with athlete selection unless the process is proven arbitrary, subsequently dismissing a petition filed by para-shuttlers on 16 October 2026.

CBI vs Santosh Kumar and others — Bribery case

In August 2024, the CBI arrested Principal Commissioner of Income Tax Santosh Kumar and four private individuals, Gurpal Singh, Rajiv Kumar, Ashok Chaurasia, and Pranay, in connection with an alleged 10 lakh bribery case. On 14 October 2026, the Delhi High Court upheld the conviction of the accused. The court observed that the operation of touts in government offices is facilitated by the involvement and encouragement of officials.

Coal Block Allocation Cases (Coalgate) — CBI/ED trials, Supreme Court supervision, and related appeals

The Coal Block Allocation cases involve allegations of irregularities in allocations between 1993 and 2011, which the Supreme Court declared arbitrary in 2014. While criminal proceedings against former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh were closed on 29 July 2026, trials continue before Special Courts in Delhi. As of 13 October 2026, a special CBI court took cognisance of charges in the Fatehpur East coal block allocation case, while the Delhi High Court has been permitted to hear pending appeals as of 30 July 2026.

State vs Lalu Prasad Yadav and others — IRCTC scam case

In the IRCTC hotel scam case involving former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav, and six others, a Delhi court ordered the framing of money laundering charges on 13 September 2026. As of 3 October 2026, the court has deferred the formal decision on the framing of these charges.

CBI vs Former ISRO officials — Antrix-Devas satellite deal corruption case

A Delhi Special CBI Court is examining alleged corruption involving former ISRO officials in the 2005 Antrix-Devas satellite deal. Although a trial court returned the CBI chargesheet for lack of territorial jurisdiction on 19 March 2026, the Delhi High Court stayed that order on 11 April 2026, keeping the case in Delhi. As reported on 10 September 2026, a former Department of Space officer defended the deal's secrecy by citing US technology sanctions.

State (CBI/ED) vs Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia & Others — Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 Corruption and Money Laundering Case

On 27 February 2026, the Rouse Avenue Special Court discharged all 23 accused, including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, from the CBI corruption case regarding the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. The CBI challenged this discharge in the Delhi High Court, where Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia filed opposition pleadings as reported on 13 August 2026. Separately, the Delhi High Court initiated criminal contempt proceedings against several AAP leaders in connection with these legal developments on 14 May 2026.

State v. Christian Michel James & Ors — AgustaWestland VVIP Helicopter Procurement Scam

The CBI and ED are prosecuting Christian Michel James, S.P. Tyagi, and others for alleged corruption in the 2013 AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter procurement scam. Although granted bail in the CBI case on 18 February 2025 and the ED case on 4 March 2025, Michel has not met the bail conditions and continues to be held in custody. As of 24 July 2026, the Supreme Court is considering his plea challenging his detention and provisions of the India-UAE extradition treaty.

ED vs Deepak Talwar

Corporate lobbyist Deepak Talwar faces criminal proceedings by the Enforcement Directorate and CBI concerning alleged corruption and the illegal diversion of foreign funds in the Advantage India case. The investigation involves allegations of kickbacks related to aviation deals and the attachment of a 120-crore property in Aerocity. The Delhi High Court issued an order in the ongoing matter on 28 April 2026.

CBI vs Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy

The CBI is investigating NDTV co-founders Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy for an alleged Rs 48 crore loss caused to ICICI Bank in 2008. On 20 March 2026, the Delhi High Court quashed the Look Out Circulars issued against the couple in connection with the investigation, mandating that they continue to cooperate with the ongoing CBI probe.

Prakash Industries Limited v. Directorate of Enforcement & CBI — Coal Block Allocation and Money Laundering

Prakash Industries Limited (PIL) is accused of obtaining Chotia and Fatehpur coal block allocations through fraud and misrepresentation in applications. The case involves allegations of submitting false documents to the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction, generating proceeds of crime through coal extraction and sale, and money laundering via share price manipulation and property acquisition. The Supreme Court cancelled the allocations in 2014. PIL remains accused (not convicted) across CBI/corruption cases and ED/PMLA enforcement proceedings, with ongoing trials and appellate litigation in the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court.

Enforcement Directorate vs. CWG 2010 accused

A Delhi court accepted the Enforcement Directorate's closure report in the 2010 Commonwealth Games money laundering case on 29 April 2025, citing a lack of evidence after a 13-year investigation. Following an appeal filed by the Enforcement Directorate regarding simultaneous proceedings under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, the Delhi High Court delivered a judgment on 15 September 2025.

Central Bureau of Investigation vs P. Chidambaram — Aircel-Maxis case

The Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate are investigating allegations against former Union minister P. Chidambaram regarding the approval process for foreign investment in the Aircel-Maxis deal. Following a chargesheet filed against P. Chidambaram and Karti Chidambaram on 19 July 2018, the Delhi High Court stayed the money laundering trial proceedings against P. Chidambaram on 20 November 2024, pending his challenge regarding the absence of necessary prosecution sanction.

State vs Tihar Jail Officials — Ankit Gujjar death case

The Delhi High Court transferred the investigation into the custodial death of gangster Ankit Gujjar in Tihar Jail to the Central Bureau of Investigation, which formally registered an FIR as reported on 13 September 2021. As reported on 2 October 2024, the Delhi High Court rejected the bail plea of former Tihar Jail Deputy Superintendent Narender Meena, who remains a key figure in the custodial violence investigation.

State (CBI/ED) v. A Raja, K Kanimozhi & Others — 2G Spectrum Allocation Appeal

The Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate filed appeals in the Delhi High Court challenging the December 2017 acquittal of former telecom minister A Raja, DMK MP K Kanimozhi, and 17 others in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case. In March 2024, the Delhi High Court admitted the CBI's leave to appeal after six years and 125 listings. The appeals are currently at the stage of hearings on admissibility and substantive grounds.

CBI vs U.S. Awasthi and others — IFFCO illegal commissions case

The CBI and Enforcement Directorate are investigating allegations that U.S. Awasthi and other officials received illegal commissions from overseas suppliers through a complex web of transactions related to fertilizer imports. In a parallel money laundering probe, the Enforcement Directorate attached residential assets of U.S. Awasthi as reported on 3 June 2022. On 4 May 2023, the Delhi High Court dismissed a petition filed by U.S. Awasthi seeking to challenge the ongoing investigation proceedings.

CBI vs S. Eswara Reddy and others — CDSCO bribery case

The CBI registered a case against Joint Drug Controller S. Eswara Reddy and representatives of Biocon Biologics Limited for allegedly conspiring to pay a 9,00,000 rupee bribe to waive phase-three clinical trials for an insulin drug. S. Eswara Reddy, L. Praveen Kumar, and Dinesh Dua were arrested in connection with the scheme. The Delhi High Court granted bail to all three individuals on 6 September 2022.

CBI vs Maneka Gandhi and others

The Delhi High Court issued a notice to the CBI regarding a corruption case involving BJP MP Maneka Gandhi and two others. The case pertains to the alleged fraudulent sanctioning of a Rs 50 lakh grant to a trust in 2001.

State vs Rajendra Nikalje alias Chhota Rajan — Fake passport case

Underworld don Chhota Rajan and three former passport officials were charged with criminal conspiracy, cheating, and forgery for obtaining a passport under a false identity. A special CBI court in New Delhi sentenced all four individuals to seven years of rigorous imprisonment on 25 April 2017.
