State vs DK Shivakumar — Disproportionate assets case

The Karnataka government withdrew its consent for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into allegations of disproportionate assets against Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Following this decision, the Karnataka High Court permitted Shivakumar to withdraw his petitions challenging the investigation on 29 November 2023. The matter is currently under investigation following the Karnataka High Court's refusal to quash the probe as reported on 23 November 2023.

CBI vs Sameer Wankhede — Extortion and bribery case

Former NCB Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede is accused of demanding a bribe in connection with the 2021 drugs case involving Aryan Khan. The CBI is opposing his petition to quash the FIR filed against him. As of 28 November 2023, the Bombay High Court has extended his interim protection from coercive action until 10 January 2024.

CBI vs Rashmi Shukla — Maharashtra phone tapping case

The Central Bureau of Investigation investigated allegations of corruption involving the unauthorized phone tapping of political leaders by IPS officer Rashmi Shukla. On 8 September 2023, the Bombay High Court quashed two FIRs filed against her regarding these allegations.

State vs Saurabh Tripathi and others — Angadia extortion case

Mumbai police investigated allegations that police officers extorted money from traditional couriers known as angadias, naming IPS officer Saurabh Tripathi as an accused. The Bombay High Court granted Saurabh Tripathi anticipatory bail on 18 November 2022, and the Maharashtra government revoked his suspension on 29 August 2023.

CBI vs U.S. Awasthi and others — IFFCO illegal commissions case

The CBI and Enforcement Directorate are investigating allegations that U.S. Awasthi and other officials received illegal commissions from overseas suppliers through a complex web of transactions related to fertilizer imports. In a parallel money laundering probe, the Enforcement Directorate attached residential assets of U.S. Awasthi as reported on 3 June 2022. On 4 May 2023, the Delhi High Court dismissed a petition filed by U.S. Awasthi seeking to challenge the ongoing investigation proceedings.

CBI vs Venugopal Dhoot

The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested Videocon Group chairman Venugopal Dhoot on 26 December 2022 regarding an alleged loan fraud involving former ICICI Bank leadership. Following his production before a special CBI court in Mumbai on 26 December 2022, Dhoot filed a petition before the Bombay High Court on 10 January 2023 to challenge his arrest and seek interim release on grounds of illegality.

CBI vs Rishi Aggarwal — ABG Shipyard bank fraud case

The CBI is investigating an alleged bank fraud involving ABG Shipyard, described as one of the largest in India. Following his arrest on 21 September 2022 and the filing of a charge sheet against him and 24 others on 19 November 2022, former chairman Rishi Agarwal was granted statutory bail. The CBI challenged this bail decision in the Delhi High Court as reported on 10 December 2022.

CBI vs S. Eswara Reddy and others — CDSCO bribery case

The CBI registered a case against Joint Drug Controller S. Eswara Reddy and representatives of Biocon Biologics Limited for allegedly conspiring to pay a 9,00,000 rupee bribe to waive phase-three clinical trials for an insulin drug. S. Eswara Reddy, L. Praveen Kumar, and Dinesh Dua were arrested in connection with the scheme. The Delhi High Court granted bail to all three individuals on 6 September 2022.

CBI vs Dr. Dibyendu Mazumdar and others

The CBI registered an FIR against Dr. Dibyendu Mazumdar, Dinesh Prasad Singh, and Firoz Ahmad, alleging they engaged in corruption by granting permission to increase dental college seats in exchange for favors. As of 27 April 2022, the investigation into these allegations is ongoing. Additionally, the Delhi High Court considered a petition on 5 July 2021 regarding Dr. Mazumdar's eligibility to contest elections for the Dental Council of India while the inquiry is pending.

CBI vs Maneka Gandhi and others

The Delhi High Court issued a notice to the CBI regarding a corruption case involving BJP MP Maneka Gandhi and two others. The case pertains to the alleged fraudulent sanctioning of a Rs 50 lakh grant to a trust in 2001.

CBI vs Trinamool Congress leaders (Narada sting case)

The CBI is investigating Trinamool Congress leaders allegedly captured on camera accepting bribes during the Narada sting operation. Following the arrest of four prominent leaders on 17 May 2021, the Calcutta High Court granted them interim bail on 28 May 2021. As reported on 30 June 2021, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Mamata Banerjee regarding a related plea.

State vs Rajendra Nikalje alias Chhota Rajan — Fake passport case

Underworld don Chhota Rajan and three former passport officials were charged with criminal conspiracy, cheating, and forgery for obtaining a passport under a false identity. A special CBI court in New Delhi sentenced all four individuals to seven years of rigorous imprisonment on 25 April 2017.

State vs Y Bhaskar Rao and others — Karnataka Lokayukta corruption case

Former Karnataka Lokayukta Y Bhaskar Rao faces allegations of abetting illegal gratification, concealing evidence, and corruption related to an extortion racket within the anti-corruption ombudsman's office. Following his resignation on 08 December 2015, the Special Investigation Team filed a chargesheet naming him as the seventh accused on 04 August 2016. As reported on 22 November 2016, the Karnataka High Court heard a petition filed by Mr. Rao concerning the legal proceedings initiated against him.

State of Uttar Pradesh vs. Central Bureau of Investigation — Yadav Singh case

The Supreme Court dismissed a petition by the Uttar Pradesh government challenging the Allahabad High Court's order directing a CBI investigation into the financial activities of Noida former Chief Engineer Yadav Singh.
