State vs Unknown — Pellet gun injury case during July 20 protest at Jantar Mantar

Student Sahil Lochab alleged he sustained permanent vision loss and other injuries after police deployed pellet guns during a protest at Jantar Mantar on 20 July 2026. An FIR was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a protest by the Leader of the Opposition. As reported on 24 October 2026, a Supreme Court-appointed High Powered Enquiry Committee has scheduled in-person evidence hearings for 29 and 30 October 2026 to investigate these allegations.

CBI vs Ateeq Ahmad and others — Extortion and kidnapping of Lucknow businessman

Acting on Supreme Court directions as reported on 13 June 2019, the Central Bureau of Investigation registered a case against former MP Ateeq Ahmad, his son, and 16 others. The accused are alleged to have kidnapped, assaulted, and extorted a Lucknow-based businessman. As of 14 June 2019, the matter is under investigation.
