State vs Tarun Tejpal — Goa resort rape case

In August 2026, the Bombay High Court convicted former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal for the 2013 rape and sexual assault of a woman journalist at a Goa resort and sentenced him to 10 years in prison. Tarun Tejpal surrendered before a Goa court and was sent to jail on 14 September 2026. As of 25 September 2026, the Supreme Court has issued notice to both the State of Goa and Tarun Tejpal regarding their respective cross-appeals against the conviction and sentence.
