State vs SFI activists — Unlawful assembly and assault case at Sanskrit varsity

SFI activists face charges including unlawful assembly, rioting, and assault following protests at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit in August 2026. While four activists were remanded to judicial custody on 21 August 2026, 17 activists were granted anticipatory bail by the Kerala High Court on 11 September 2026. Separately, a police officer was suspended on 13 October 2026 for allegedly attacking SFI workers during the incident.

State vs M.O1 — Penetrative sexual assault using vibrating machine

The Kerala High Court affirmed on 2 August 2026 the conviction and ten-year prison sentence of a cosmetology centre manager for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old employee using a vibrating machine. The court ruled that the forced placement of the device on the victim's vaginal opening constitutes penetrative sexual assault under the POCSO Act.
