State vs Vinay and one other — Rape and murder of 7-year-old girl in Ghaziabad mall

An 11-year-old girl living with her family on a footpath at CDR Chowk in Mehrauli, Delhi was allegedly abducted around 5 a.m. while sleeping. The girl was raped and killed by a cab driver, Bashu Kumar Singh. Police arrested the accused following technical surveillance and CCTV analysis; during interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to abducting, sexually assaulting, and strangling the minor.

A 65-year-old accused was convicted and awarded death penalty for rape and murder of a minor. The case gained attention for the speed of investigation and trial. Police collected evidence from multiple sources and coordinated with forensic experts. A comprehensive chargesheet of 1,200 pages was filed on May 16.

A 12-year-old girl's body was recovered from a pond in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal on July 5, 2026. She was allegedly raped and murdered. Three persons were arrested in connection with the case; one accused, Prabhas Mondal, was killed in a police encounter on July 8, 2026. Twelve to thirteen bonded labourers, including minors, were rescued from a factory in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh after alleged 10-month abuse involving torture, branding, whipping, and severe malnutrition. Factory owner Ankit Balyan, his father Pradeep Balyan, and supervisor Shiva Tyagi have been booked under human trafficking, bonded labour, murder, child labour, and SC/ST atrocities provisions; two are arrested and one is absconding.
