In re: Gulshan Pahuja — Criminal Contempt case

Sonu Sonkar, a life convict, filed a contempt petition in the Delhi High Court alleging that the Delhi Government failed to comply with a May 2025 court order directing the reconsideration of the cancellation of his remission. In response, the High Court has ordered the Home Secretary to appear in person due to the non-filing of a compliance affidavit.

The Allahabad High Court addressed a contempt of court matter concerning the non-compliance with a non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued by the court. The court clarified that misbehaviour with lawyers discharging their duties during court proceedings constitutes contempt, and emphasized the duty of police officers to personally ensure the execution of NBWs issued by the High Court.

A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of India seeking contempt action against the Kerala Congress and other individuals, including Mahua Moitra, for social media posts targeting the Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant. The plea also requests the court to issue guidelines to prevent political parties from conducting public campaigns against judges.
