Gujarat Pollution Control Board vs. Property Owner — Environmental violations by unlicensed dye manufacturing tenant

The National Green Tribunal directed inspection of textile, shoe, leather, plastic, and rubber manufacturing units in Bahadurgarh for environmental violations. Petitioner Harinder Kumar alleged that these units were polluting the environment through open dumping, burning, and unscientific disposal of industrial waste into water bodies.

The Karnataka High Court ruled that criminal proceedings cannot be utilized to secure an advantage in a pending partition suit. The court cancelled the criminal property case, emphasizing that such disputes are civil in nature and must be resolved in civil courts.

The National Green Tribunal has included the Delhi government and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) in ongoing proceedings concerning uranium contamination detected in groundwater samples at elevated levels. The NGT is examining the contamination issue and the roles of the state authority and pollution control agency.
