CBI investigation into pan-India digital arrest scam network

The CBI is investigating pan-India digital arrest scams under Operation Chakra-VI following 2025 Supreme Court directives to treat these activities as organised crime. The Enforcement Directorate has made six arrests in a related money-laundering investigation, and the Delhi High Court denied anticipatory bail in a money trail case on 06 October 2026. On 29 October 2026, the Supreme Court mandated that banks must compensate digital arrest victims if it is determined that the bank failed to exercise proper due diligence in flagging unusual transactions.

In the Rs 200-crore extortion and money laundering case involving Sukesh Chandrashekhar, Jacqueline Fernandez, and 15 others, a Delhi court formally framed charges against the accused on 3 June 2026. While a Delhi court ordered the release of Chandrashekhar in a separate corruption case on 30 October 2026, he continues to be held in custody for the extortion matter as of 30 October 2026. Panchkula Police vs Suleiman (Bambiha gang operative)

Panchkula police are investigating an arms supplier network connected to the Bambiha gang, which has led to the arrests of Mohammad Akram on 7 May 2026 and an additional associate on 18 August 2026. As reported on 1 November 2026, police secured a six-day remand for two further accused individuals, Piyush Piplani and Ravinder Singh, as part of this ongoing case.
