In re: Administration of the Sabanayagar Temple, Chidambaram

The Madras High Court has ordered the appointment of a Board of Management to oversee the Sabanayagar Temple in Chidambaram, citing findings of maladministration by the hereditary Podhu Dikshidars priests. The court appointed retired High Court judges V. Bharathidasan and R. Suresh Kumar as chair and co-chair of the management board.

State of Kerala vs N Vasu — Sabarimala temple missing gold case

The Special Investigation Team has completed its probe into the 2019 disappearance of gold from Sabarimala temple idols, which led to the arrests of former Travancore Devaswom Board officials N. Vasu on 11 November 2025 and P.S. Prasanth on 23 July 2026. As reported on 27 October 2026, the Kerala High Court has urged the state government to expedite the process of granting prosecution sanction for the accused. The court previously denied a travel abroad plea from accused jeweller Roddam Pandurangaiah Naga Govardhan on 15 October 2026.

Shri Vidyadas Babaji vs State of Karnataka and others — Anjanadri Temple administrative rights

Hereditary priest Shri Vidyadas Babaji is challenging the Koppal district administration's administrative control over the Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple. Following a dispute where the priest locked out government staff, officials forcibly regained control of the temple premises on 28 October 2026 citing a Dharwad High Court order. As reported on 30 October 2026, Shri Vidyadas Babaji intends to contest this takeover in the Supreme Court.
