State of Andhra Pradesh vs Unidentified Accused — Anantapur school assault case

On 31 October 2026, 21-year-old Hemanth alias Dummu allegedly attacked two tenth-grade students, Gopika and Lakshmi, with a wood-cutting machine at a Zilla Parishad high school in Raptadu, Anantapur district. One victim died from her injuries while the other was transferred to Bengaluru for medical treatment as reported on 31 October 2026. The accused, a distant relative of one of the victims, was arrested at the Dharmavaram railway station on 31 October 2026.
