State vs. Unidentified Accused and Others — East Champaran Counterfeit Currency Case

Police in the East Champaran district of Bihar arrested a youth from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, after recovering counterfeit notes valued at approximately 20 lakh rupees near Manikpur. Authorities reported that the accused and three other accomplices, who managed to flee the scene in a vehicle, were allegedly en route to Bettiah to exchange the money for a larger amount of counterfeit currency.

State vs Mithilesh Chaurasia and Santosh Chaurasia — Saharanpur counterfeit coin racket

Mithilesh Chaurasia and Santosh Chaurasia are accused of running a counterfeit coin manufacturing and distribution network across Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Following his absconding status since 12 September 2026, Mithilesh Chaurasia was arrested in Madhubani, Bihar, and placed on remand as reported on 24 October 2026. A second, unnamed suspect linked to the same network was also apprehended in Bihar as reported on 26 October 2026, while Saharanpur police continue their investigation.

State vs. Ajay Kumar and others — Saharanpur PNB currency chest fake currency case

The National Investigation Agency is probing the discovery of counterfeit Indian currency with a face value of Rs 17.29 crore at a Punjab National Bank currency chest in Saharanpur. As of 23 October 2026, the investigation has led to the arrest of seven individuals, including Ajay Kumar and Manali, who were identified as key conspirators in the printing and supply of the notes.
