Reliance Industries Limited vs Union of India — KG Basin gas extraction dispute

The Supreme Court has referred the dispute between Reliance Industries Limited and the Union of India regarding natural gas extraction and alleged migration in the Krishna-Godavari basin to mediation. Former Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai was appointed to mediate the matter as of 30 October 2026. On 30 October 2026, the Court further directed the mediator to enlist two domain experts to assist in the process.

State vs. Unknown Accused — Badlapur business rivalry murder case

A 28-year-old man was killed and his friend was injured following an attack in Badlapur, allegedly stemming from a business dispute regarding the supply of building materials to construction sites. Police have arrested two individuals and are currently searching for 11 other suspects involved in the incident.

Amazon.com NV Investment Holdings LLC vs Future Retail Limited

Amazon challenged a deal between Future Group and Reliance Retail, leading the Supreme Court to uphold an emergency arbitrator's award halting the transaction on 6 August 2021. As reported on 27 May 2026, the Supreme Court subsequently set aside a Competition Commission of India order that had revoked deal approval and imposed a 202 crore rupee penalty on Amazon.
